Storytelling for Social Change

Door: Changemaker Studio

Storytelling is essential to create awareness about societal challenges and to make an impact. Changemaker Studio developed an evidence-based storytelling methodology to connect people, change perspectives, and mobilize action for social change. We combine insights from ancient methods, groundbreaking artists and the latest social movements. In our upcoming guidebook and workshop, we illustrate the main principles of our Storytelling for Social Change method and connect these with unforgettable stories from leading changemakers around the world as best-practices. We write and develop Stories for Social Change based on this method. We support changemakers in their storytelling with our guidebook, workshop, and tailored advice.

Many of today’s problems are rooted in feelings of division that are exacerbated by widespread misinformation. Our mission is to foster interconnection and create change by sharing knowledge on societal challenges through storytelling.

There is a gap between the social impact and creative fields, often due to differences in values and language. At Changemaker Studio, we believe that knowledge and creativity together are needed to create social change.

Knowledge is the foundation for great ideas. That’s why we aim to do more high-quality research to support changemakers when they create social change in difficult circumstances, addressing issues such as poverty, migration, gender equity, injustice, and sustainability.

Creativity engages people to let those ideas flourish. That’s why we aim to use (the process of) storytelling to make knowledge not only accessible, but vivid and inspiring.

The cultural sector profoundly shapes society, yet it is often undervalued. We must develop qualitative methods to measure its impact beyond anecdotes or numbers. Additionally, we need to step outside our bubbles and create projects that reach broader audiences to combat polarization. By engaging in the creative process and collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds and worldviews, we can highlight our interconnectedness.
